Regional Meeting of Mountain Rescue Services

Last weekend, from April 11 to 13, a regional meeting of mountain rescue services took place in Kranjska Gora, bringing together representatives from nine different rescue organizations across the broader region. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experiences and best practices, and to strengthen international cooperation.

We are proud and delighted to announce that during this meeting, a formal international cooperation agreement was signed. With this agreement, we committed to closer collaboration, regular exchange of knowledge and experts, and mutual support in large-scale rescue operations. This marks an important step toward more coordinated and connected efforts among mountain rescue teams across the region.

A key part of the program included two demonstration exercises on Saturday. The GRZS Air Rescue Commission showcased helicopter rescue operations in Slovenia, with a live demonstration carried out by helicopters from both the Slovenian Police and the Slovenian Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, the GRZS Terrestrial Rescue Commission presented an innovative and currently unique rope rescue technique that introduces significant improvements for faster and safer interventions in difficult terrain.

The meeting in Kranjska Gora once again highlighted the importance of connection and collaboration — both within and beyond national borders. A big thank you to everyone who contributed their knowledge, experience, and energy to the success of this gathering.
